NSW urged to get behind talented country singer

Australian Idol finalist Shannon Noll is living proof that country people have what it takes to be a star and the NSW Farmers' Association is calling on everyone to get behind him and support this up and coming bush icon.

Chair of the Association's YouthLink Committee, Debra Charlton, says it is great to see a young farmer achieving such a wonderful breakthrough.

"People in the bush don't get as many opportunities as our cousins living in bigger cities, so it's encouraging to see Shannon has come this far.

"He has definitely put Condobolin back on the map, which is absolutely fantastic for rural NSW, with life being particularly hard for most during the current drought.

"He seems really down to earth and genuine, and I'm sure his talent and musical prowess will rock the nation for a few more years to come.

"I would like to encourage everyone in NSW, whether you are from a regional community or not, to get behind the boy from the bush, and show your support for such a talented young man,” Mrs Charlton concluded.

Shannon Noll, 28, is from a farm near Condobolin in central west NSW, where he produces sheep, wheat, oats and barley. He expects to harvest his crops at the end of this year, before marring his fiancée, Rochelle, next year.
